An Audio Signatures Indexing Scheme For MIDI Format Music Files

A This paper describes a method of content indexing for Multimedia Databases using binary signatures for MIDI format archives. The analysis scheme focuses on the primary audio objects of the Multimedia environment, applies a reduction mechanism and extracts characteristic patterns forming motifs (musical themes). Binary signatures are associated with these audio segments they describe. For each audio segment key features are encoded within the signature and information retrieval can be performed on the Multimedia Database querying the corresponding signatures of the MIDI archives. The signature structure serves as an index of the associated audio objects assisting their retrieval.
